A compilation of the many indigenous languages of North America that belong to the Algonquian Language Family. The ones not included are languages that are no longer spoken fluently or at all except for Shawnee, I couldn't find a clip for that language.

Update: Elders Louise and Joseph Wawatie were released and there has been a Call to All Nations to unify their voices against colonialism. 1 August 2012: Sureté de Québec arrested Elders who were standing for the Land. Grandmother Louise Wawatie and Joseph Wawatie were arrested this morning. PLEASE SHARE this video widely! On Thursday July 26, 2012, Mr. Dion (representing PF Resolute - a logging company from Montreal, Quebec) and Sergeant St-Louis from the Surete du Quebec confronted the people of the land, represented by the Circle of Elders of One Nation and the wildlife and culture being destroyed and dislodged by the company's operations. Although the police officer argues not to take sides, you can clearly see him being the spokesperson of the PF Resolute company, interpreting what the company's employee is saying and adding some thoughts of his own. Please note that that police officer and others being deployed at Barriere Lake are being paid by peoples taxes. When Jacob (Mowegan) Wawatie explains the vision of the land and of the people of the land, you can see the clash of paradigms. The company, supported by the colonial state, rapes Mother Earth to maximize profits and they don't think for a second in our future generations. Mother Earth doesn't speak colonial languages, like French or English. Mother Earth speaks through Jacob (Mowegan) Wawatie. The vision presented by Jacob, Monique and Rose Wawatie is a firm and cosmic stand about what it means to be human, to be Algonquin, to be indigenous. They are good ancestors. We need to follow their guidance. Meegweetch! Algonquin Legends of New England or Myths and Folk Lore of the Micmac, Passamaquoddy, and Penobscot Tribes, The Charles Godfrey LELAND (1824 - 1903) This work, then, contains a collection of the myths, legends, and folk-lore of the principal Wabanaki, or Northeastern Algonquin, Indians; that is to say, of the Passamaquoddies and Penobscots of Maine, and of the Micmacs of New Brunswick. All of this material was gathered directly from Indian narrators, the greater part by myself, the rest by a few friends; in fact, I can give the name of the aboriginal authority for every tale except one. (Summary by Charles Godfrey Leland)

The Eastern Algonquian languages constitute a subgroup of the Algonquian languages.Prior to European contact, Eastern Algonquian consisted of at least 17 languages, collectively occupying the Atlantic coast of North America and adjacent inland areas from what are now known as the Canadian Maritime provinces to North Carolina. The available information about individual languages varies widely. Some are known only from one or two documents containing words and phrases collected by missionaries, explorers or settlers, and some documents contain fragmentary evidence about more than one language or dialect. ---Image-Copyright-and-Permission--- About the author(s): Любослов Езыкин License: Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0) License Url: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 Author(s): Любослов Езыкин (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Любослов_Езыкин) ---Image-Copyright-and-Permission--- This channel is dedicated to make Wikipedia, one of the biggest knowledge databases in the world available to people with limited vision. Proto-Algonquian is the proto-language from which the various Algonquian languages are descended. It is generally estimated to have been spoken around 2,500 to 3,000 years ago, but on the question of where it was spoken, there is less agreement. The Algonquian family, which is a branch of the larger Algic language family, is usually divided into three subgroups: Eastern Algonquian, which is a genetic subgroup, and Central Algonquian and Plains Algonquian, both of which are areal groupings. In the historical linguistics of North America, Proto-Algonquian is one of the best studied, most thoroughly reconstructed proto-languages.
