Welcome to Algonquian Kekewh! (Algonquian Alive!) I post videos to bring life to the words spoken by Native Americans in the 17th century. Because of my heritage, I'm interested in the revitalization of their almost lost language. I'm not a trained linguist, so please feel free to message me if you spot any errors. Although the police officer argues not to take sides, you can clearly see him being the spokesperson of the PF Resolute company, interpreting what the company's employee is saying and adding some thoughts of his own. Please note that that police officer and others being deployed at Barriere Lake are being paid by peoples taxes. When Jacob (Mowegan) Wawatie explains the vision of the land and of the people of the land, you can see the clash of paradigms. The company, supported by the colonial state, rapes Mother Earth to maximize profits and they don't think for a second in our future generations. Mother Earth doesn't speak colonial languages, like French or English. Mother Earth speaks through Jacob (Mowegan) Wawatie. The vision presented by Jacob, Monique and Rose Wawatie is a firm and cosmic stand about what it means to be human, to be Algonquin, to be indigenous. They are good ancestors. We need to follow their guidance. Meegweetch!
